Well into the 1950s, the truck fleet consisted mainly of outdated equipment from military depots, massively rebuilt and kept running for civilian purposes. In the early 1950s, Mr. W.A. Hoek saw a growing demand for heavy-duty trucks, which were difficult or impossible to deliver. He saw an opportunity to build a self-made truck based on market demand at the lowest possible price that could offer maximum performance to the user.
